Finding Hope in Silence: Remembering God's Promises

41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there. John 20:41-42

Many things had transpired in Jesus’ life within a few days. From riding into Jerusalem on a donkey to being betrayed by his closest friends, arrested, and crucified on a cross, Jesus’ last few earthly days were a flurry of activity with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

And then silence.

How is a Savior to save when he lies still in a grave?

Silence can often lead us in two directions - despair or hope.

Our kind often can go to despair that God has forgotten us. Despair that God will not make good on his promises.

But when we cling to hope and consistently think about it, we believe that despite what our circumstances may look like, God has not forgotten us. God is ever present and ever working on our behalf.

Take a moment to sit in silence and think about who God is. Remember His promises. Remember all the ways He has provided and has seen you through when you couldn’t see a way.

God is always working….even in the silence.
